deheaded jans smuts

Jan Smuts was a politician and statesman. He still has many monuments and things named in his honor. Among many other things he ran and lost against the National party in 1948, which was the time and party which officially shepherded in apartheid.

Yet to some he is still a symbol of the past regimes. I’m not sure if this statue’s head was covered as a protest or as part of maintenance but I’m inclined to think the later. Seen outside the National Gallery in the Company Gardens.
