road trip day 9: port elizabeth to wilderness
mordecai children's home

There’s a gorgeous stretch of coast along the Garden Route from Port Elizabeth to Wilderness. But first we stopped at the Mordecai Children’s Home, which is run by, as far as I can tell, a living saint. There are many children and many rooms but I particularly liked a display of stuffed animals in the youngest children’s room.

We stopped in the Tsitsikamma National Forest/ Stormsriver mouth to do some hiking and to walk across the spectacular (but not-nearly-Indiana-Jones-enough) footbridge across the mouth.

We also stopped in the lovely and still-quite-undeveloped Nature’s Valley, which felt like a slice of the Wild Coast. I didn’t take any photos there, but I did have a nice walk on the beach.
