A couple tilt photos of Johannesburg (from June 2010) from atop the Carlton Centre.

I took the tour of the Taza Chocolate tour on Sunday. It was pretty cool. I like industrial machinery.

By the time you see this, I’ll be on my plane back to the States. I took this while showing a visiting friend around the Waterfront. Photos of the Mountain are obligatory, of course. The table cloth was just a bonus.

It’s been good. I’ll be traveling for much of the next six weeks. Expect to see a wide variety of photos from that, but I also have a solid backlog of South Africa photos I still want to post.

I seem to be having luck with Karoo sunsets. This one is from last night.

I stopped by the Hout Bay harbor on the way to Kommetjie the other day. It was windy and there were threatening clouds.

Taken on the same trip as the Riebeek Kasteel photos. They’re polar opposites: ugly and industrial vs beautiful and natural. I believe this is the Total refinery in Plattekloof.

I saw this view over the harbor as I was walking to town the other day. It’s times like that when I’m glad I try to carry my camera with me most of the time.

The cooling towers of the Athlone (coal) Power Station (featured previously) in Athlone, Cape Town stood from the early 1960s until a few minutes before noon today. The towers were seen by some as icons of Cape Town; they were, at the very least, distinctive landmarks along the N2. The demolition was quite a sight to see.
