One of many things that was erected right before the World Cup in Cape Town was this Ferris wheel.

This is another photo that I don’t think I’ve posted before. I came across it while flipping through old stuff in Lightroom today.

Midst packing and organizing and having final drinks with my friends on my last day in Cape Town, I ran off to take this photo that I’d seen a few days before on a walk when I didn’t have my camera with me.

I don’t know why I’ve wanted to do this photo for a while, but I have. Here it is. It’s like an album cover of rock songs about your team getting knocked out of a sporting event.

And, yes, my makarapa is the best one ever made.

My friend Mic gave me an awesome World Cup newspaper pull-out that I filled out with all the scores and things. Now it’s just waiting for the last score.

It’s strange that the World Cup is almost over. I’m not sure what the world will be like tomorrow; I can’t imagine it.

(Now would be a good time for a macro lens. Natalie, mind if I borrow yours?)

They finally completed Cape Town’s own Coke Man a few days before the World Cup ends. It’s down at the waterfront. Better late than never, though.

orange: holland-uruguay

Before the Holland-Uruguay game at Cape Town Stadium, I went down to the fan walk and took in the atmosphere a bit. There was a lot of orange and a lot of people supporting Holland. Some people had one accessory and some had the full outfit. There were also a few Uruguay fans, but theirs was the easily less supported team.

I walked to Firemen’s Arms to watch the Argentina-Germany quarterfinal in Cape Town yesterday. This meant I was going the exact opposite of all the fans going to the stadium (along the designated “fan walk”). I saw lots of people clad in each team’s colors and a fair amount were even wearing the yellow and green of South Africa, but this is my favorite photo among the lot.

The warm ups before Tuesday’s Spain-Portugal game at Cape Town Stadium. Spain won the game 1-0.
