Wild flowers and silver trees on Lion’s Head. Wild flowers are everywhere but the silver trees are only in the Cape. I loved walking through a large grove of them when I hiked up to the peak a week ago.

I don’t know why I’ve wanted to do this photo for a while, but I have. Here it is. It’s like an album cover of rock songs about your team getting knocked out of a sporting event.

And, yes, my makarapa is the best one ever made.

Some workers were hanging from a roof of a building around the corner from me. I think they were painting but I’m actually not sure now that I think about it.

A guy came up to me while I was taking this photo and very deliberately informed me that the workers were from the “David Matthews” (no relation I presume) rope access company. I’m not sure why it was important to inform me of this.

There are magnificent natural areas pretty much anywhere you look in this city. Taken from Lion’s Head with the tilt lens (Zeiss Flektagon + Hartblei adapter).

Probably the most frustrating thing about photography is that everything has to be right. The composition can be right but the color can be off. Or the photo’s sharp but badly exposed. Or the composition and exposure are right but everything in the photo is a bit skewed to the edges. Or everything’s technically perfect but the composition is boring.

Rosie. Taken at the Mount Nelson for high tea. We dressed up. Compositionally I love this photo but the shutter speed is to slow so there’s some blur. So it happens I guess. I’ll take it better next time.

Yesterday was a ridiculous day and I’ll definitely have more photos to come from it, but here’s a quick one to satiate your appetite.

There was a matching pair of Karmann Ghias in red and yellow outside my barber the other day. The car guard told me they arrived together. They were in immaculate condition.

Some parts of Bo Kaap are colorful and some are not, but it seems incongruous to see graffiti in the colorful parts.

Christine ‘Fats‘ Waller was in town with her boyfriend over the weekend and I took them out to Stellenbosch and the charming Muratie vineyard on Friday for some wine tasting. This was in the cellar.
